Privacy Policy

The short version: our app runs entirely on your computer and sends us nothing about you or your files. This website uses cookieless, anonymous analytics. The only personal data we ever hold is what you give us directly - an email address you sign up with, a support email, or the details our payment provider needs to sell you a licence.

Who we are

BitSoft is the trading name of BIT-SOFT TECHNOLOGY LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17148041). Registered office: 44 Merthyr Mawr Road, Bridgend, Wales, CF31 3NR. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@bit-soft.co.uk.

Our app: InTray (formerly Clip)

InTray runs entirely locally on your Windows PC. It has no account system, no cloud sync and no telemetry. Your screenshots and files never leave your machine, and we have no way of seeing them. A licensed copy confirms its licence key with Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, at most once every 7 days, sending the licence key and an anonymised machine identifier and nothing else. The free trial makes no licence calls at all.

Beam, InTray's phone-to-PC transfer, works over your own local Wi-Fi network (or a temporary hotspot your PC creates). Transfers travel directly between your devices and are never routed through our servers or anyone else's - we never receive, store, or see the files you transfer. Beam listens only on your own local network, and only while it is switched on.

Software updates

InTray installed from our website is a Windows app package. Windows' own App Installer checks our website (getintray.com) for a newer version when InTray starts and periodically in the background; that check is made by Windows, not by InTray, and reaches our web host as an ordinary page request (see Hosting below) - it identifies neither you nor your copy. InTray's "Check for updates" menu item, when you choose it, makes one request to GitHub for the latest release number and opens the download page if there is one; nothing is downloaded or installed without you. If you install InTray from the Microsoft Store, updates and installation are handled by Microsoft under Microsoft's privacy statement.

This website

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect or store personal data - no persistent identifiers, no cross-site tracking. It tells us things like how many people visited a page and which country they were in, and nothing about who they are.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify, whose infrastructure processes standard web server request data (such as IP addresses) transiently to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Data you give us

Email list

If you give us your email address for product updates (including when you start a free trial), we store it and use it to send occasional product news. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. We never sell or share the list.

Support and press email

If you email support@bit-soft.co.uk or press@bit-soft.co.uk, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your query and maintain a support history.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy handles your payment details - we never see your card number. We receive the information needed to issue and support your licence, such as your email address and licence key. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.

Legal bases

  • Contract - processing needed to sell you a licence and provide support for it.
  • Consent - the email list; you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
  • Legitimate interests - anonymous, cookieless site analytics and responding to enquiries.

Retention

Email-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or the list is retired. Licence records are kept for as long as your licence is active plus any period required for tax and accounting law. Support correspondence is kept for up to two years after the query is closed.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Email support@bit-soft.co.uk and we'll act on it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change materially affects data we already hold about you (for example, the email list), we'll email you about it first.
